Julie Roberts

Julie’s work is constructed using a mixture of paper pulps and natural fibres to create ethereal sculptural objects. These pieces are then hand-stitched using metallic threads, providing an extra glimmer of detail to the already delicate organic forms.

Throughout the pieces the concepts of movement and motion are explored; through texture, undulations of the surface and stitch, juxtaposed with colour graduation within the series of work. The pieces work in sequence, but can be displayed individually; often they stack within each other (with the graduation of scale) and can be grouped together or separated out.

Julie is currently working in her studio in Reading as well as providing a range of workshops to both adults and children.
